Our printer, Bettina Pauly, will be among the artists speaking tonight at the Book Club of California’s Second Annual Next Generation Printer’s Showcase. Bettina grew up in Germany and has been living and working in San Francisco for a number of years. She first came to Painted Tongue Press as an apprentice in 2007. She learned how to use the Heidelberg Windmill and is now the skilled lead printer of our card line. (Kim jumps in and prints some cards also on occasion.) Bettina also teaches at Academy of Art and the San Francisco Center for the Book. However, aside from teaching and printing for us, Bettina is a book artist with a distinct studio practice of her own. Below are some of her creations.
The talk at the Book Club of California tonight is from 5-7 pm and is open to the public. Hospitality begins at 5 pm. Presentation begins at 6 pm. The other artists being showcased include Dina Pollack, David Tim, and Joan Karissa. If you’d like to attend, click here to rsvp.
