Painted Tongue Press is now offering two new opportunities for local artists: A Resident Artist Program, and an option for Studio Rental.
Resident Artist Program
(housing not included)
For artists proficient in the equipment they’ll be using: Studio access daily as scheduled, between 8 am and 8 pm, with limited support as needed in person 9:30 am – 3 pm on weekdays except Wednesdays, and phone support at other times. $200/mo
For artists needing support on the equipment: 9:30-3 on weekdays as scheduled. $300/day of studio use, with commitment to 4 days in a 4 month period. These days can be consolidated to one week, stretched out across four months, or something in between.
Studio Rental
For artists proficient in the equipment they’ll be using: $30 per hr.
For artists needing support on the equipment: $100 per hr.
Available hours: M-T, Th-F, 9:30-3 & W 12-3 as prescheduled.
Equipment & Amenities:
(See images below) Vandercook 4, Griffin 40×60” etching press, 60×60” work table, 12×12” photopolymer platemaker, 23” Chandler & Price manual guillotine, 40” paper cutter, 23×30” soaking tray, 10×12” patmag, rubber based letterpress inks, standard letterpress printing tools, eco-friendly clean up materials, work apron, wi-fi access, small fridge, microwave, electric tea kettle and unlimited tea. Space is 650 sq feet.
Not Included:
Paper, non-letterpress inks, paints, wood or metal type, plate material, boxcar base. Note: we don’t have much space for storage on site, though can provide a small amount of shelf space and will work with you on short term, mid-project needs. The residency does not include housing.
Note: For artists planning to work without paid support, we will schedule an initial time together to introduce you to this particular equipment and space, and for you to demonstrate proficiency on the equipment you’ll be using. This will be at no additional charge.

We’d like to receive applications for the first cohort by April 1, 2026. When applying please provide the following in a pdf format
- Your name, how long you’ve been printmaking, and what kinds of print media you work in most often.
- Which equipment you’re interested in using and any past experience you’ve had working on that kind of equipment. Do you need instruction or support on the equipment you’d like to use?
- When would you like access to the studio, and for what length of time? To what degree is your timeframe flexible? Would you like to come on a short term or long term basis?
- Do you have a specific project or exploration or goal in mind?
- Include 5 images of your work that relate to what you’d like to do in the studio.
- Do you have questions, accommodation requests, or further details we should know about you and your work?
